"Racing For ALS is about more than just fast cars-It’s about speeding to a cure for ALS!”

- David Lloyd, Jr.

** Racing for ALS is a federally registered and recognized 501(c)3 organization, EIN# - 85-0750246

Thanks for Everything Dave!

Dave’s almost 6-year fight with ALS came to an end on July 25, 2023, peacefully at his home with family around him.  Though we will miss him dearly, we find great solace in knowing that he is no longer in pain, no longer tied to that wheelchair, and today runs free with those who went before him in heaven.

Dave beat the odds with his long fight against ALS, and that fight along with who he was as a person inspired so many people.  That inspiration led those on the Racing for ALS team to raise over 1.1 million dollars since June of 2018 in his honor to help fund the fight against ALS, and to help others battling this disease (Click Here to Donate in Honor of Dave 100% of all funds will go to benefit our Triple Target Funding Program).  That is who David was. He always had a kind word and a wave no matter how he was feeling, or of course a good joke. David loved being able to help others, and David was truly overwhelmed and beyond appreciative of the love shown to him by those who rallied around him and were just an amazing support to him. Even though a thank you doesn’t seem to suffice, we say thank you again to all who have been a part of this journey and helped Dave in his fight to #endals.

He is racing today, he is free, he hurts no more.  Thanks be to God.

Racing for ALS News…..

Larry’s Race HPDE

April 6, 2024- Larry’s Race took place at Willow Springs International Raceway, CA. The event was organized and run by our good friends and Racing for ALS teammates Wilder Racing along with Glynis Murray of ALS TDI.

Over $31,000 was raised at the event today!! With the help of our new #ALSWarrior sponsor MongoDB, 100% of funds will go to Dave’s Triple Target Fund which supports research and pals directly.

Thank you to everyone who took part in today’s event, we hope that you had a wonderful time!

Thank You from the Racing for ALS Team- Wilder Racing thank you for all of your efforts to make this event a reality as our West Coast team out there leading the way to #ENDALS!

RED EYE DESIGNS- MEMORIAL WRAP

March 30, 2024- Though this is the paint scheme that we hoped we would never run, we cannot say enough good things about what the folks at Red Eye Designs did with this memorial wrap on our car #dale in memory of our co-founder David R. Lloyd, Jr., and what our friends at Simpson Race Products did with this new fire suit! This wrap is about memorializing Dave and what he meant to us. We hope that you like it as much as we do!!

Check out this really cool video on our Hendrick Performance Track Attack / Hendrick Performance Track Attack car #dale that features our 2024 memorial wrap and gives a welcome/intro to our new friends at MongoDB - #RacingForKendrick !

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M0IDHodVuvw

The video is only 8 minutes, and watching to the end helps the YouTube algorithm for them referring our videos; so thanks for doing that if you can please. Video work and Editing by Beast ZL1 Racing

MongoDB DOES THE ALS ICE BUCKET CHALLENGE

March 29, 2024- MongoDB leadership tackled the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge to support #RacingforKendrick.

There are just not enough words to thank the amazing folks at MongoDB for what they have accomplished this week! They started a fundraiser for Racing for ALS on Tuesday of this week (The link is below if you want to donate) during their annual meetings in Las Vegas in honor of one of their own, Kendrick, who is battling ALS.

https://www.mightycause.com/event/Racing4kendrick?fbclid=IwAR0hDVKaqu-TtQ54ywqovVsRQg-RMmJyLCz5_OnFQ7ceD5xswzFL-g0nbeE_aem_Af0eMfiuRAHShiTX__G7eH4YysxaxNt4MPRKBVSwLuDb5EtVCAS4w-TCxqTTNmu9VMkB-4J9t5IZ48km7lb5oPch

As you can see via the link, they absolutely blew us away by raising over $270,000 in 3 days that will go 100% to our Triple Target Fund that supports the research of ALS TDI and the Duke Health, along with our 2 RFALS Patient Assistance Grant and Van Funds. We are so grateful to be on the journey with Kendrick and MongoDB, and we are beyond excited to get that money into the #endals fight as we continue to race for a cure!

My brother David always talked about wanting to leave a legacy, and to do something that his two children would be proud of.....Well we'd say that Dave's legacy lives on in all those that this money will go to help!

Thank you from the Racing for ALS Team-

MongoDB team and to our Director of Philanthropic Events Marian Bradley for all that you did to help make this a reality and blow away all of our previous fundraising records! We are beyond grateful!

Stewart’s Race at Barber Motorsports Park in Birmingham, AL

October 1, 2023 - We had a very fun but emotional weekend as we closed out the 2023 Racing for ALS season by running Stewart's Race at Barber Motorsports Park with our race partners Emma (Stewart's Granddaughter) of Stomping Out ALS One Step At A Time, her mom Amy, James Marcellana of Jzilla Track Days, and Rob Wilmoth of FasterSkunk Racing.

Wheelin’ for ALS Event in support of Jacob Harper

August 12, 2023 - We cannot say enough good things about Teamjacobwv, the Harper family, and the amazing community that surrounds them! Had the pleasure of traveling up to Charleston, WV, for an awesome trail ride yesterday in honor of Jacob Harper. As you can see from these top shots (All of them are on the Teamjacobwv page please go give them a follow), it was an amazing time as this family and community loves Jacob so much, and is really leaning into the Lord for support as they work to battle this disease. And for me it was good to have the distraction of some good ole mud therapy a week after we officially said good bye for now to Dave. One of my favorite shots is towards the end where Jacob's father and friends are attaching supports to allow Jacob to ride safely and comfortably in the Jeep. So people might not understand that, but it comes down to the fact that they will do anything they can for Jacob to be able to do the things he love, like 4 Wheeling. Just like we did for Dave when he struggled to get his driver's gloves on, and at one point couldn't crank his car, but could still run record laps; it is part of the disease and what those who love their pALS do to make it all happen. So again, great job to the Harper family for putting on an amazing event and giving your son a day he will never forget!

Jacob's condition is what is known as nano-rare; he is the youngest person in the state of WV with ALS and is currently part of a clinical drug trial at The Ohio State University that we feel is divine intervention and is a drug that has had major impacts for other people with Jacob's VERY rare form of ALS. So please continue to pray for him, and all that is happening.

Outside of having a lot of fun, this event raised over $21,000 that will go 100% to the The Ohio State University, The ALS Association / The ALS Association - West Virginia, and our Patient Assistance Fund. Thank you again to all who worked so hard to put on this amazing event, and obviously to all who took part in the fun!

Thank you from the Racing for ALS Team -

The Jordan Mead of WOWK 13 NEWS team, thank you for coming out to help us raise awareness for ALS and support the event, and thank you to the Kanawha County Sheriff's Office for your help in getting our large group safely out to the trails!
