Once registered, you will be contacted by Scott Lloyd of Racing for ALS to confirm if you are approved for the event or if more information is needed. For those who are approved to drive, you will also receive information on making your donation, fundraising for your registration fee or both since 100% of all money raised will go to ALS TDI to help them continue their very important work to find a pharma-based cure for ALS (We were blown away to already have $2,300 in donations before we even started registration, your generosity is humbling and appreciated!)

The "Bad Medicine" name came about because Paul Week's wife passed from ALS in 2019, and when she was diagnosed it was simply explained that there are no options for treatment of any kind - There was no medical hope at all. We were simply told to go get our things in order as it is 100% fatal and all you can do is manage the symptoms, pain levels and wait for the end. The disease is brutal on everyone involved (patient, family and caregivers) and she passed in 18 months from diagnosis like 85% of people diagnosed with ALS. All the $$$ we raise goes to the ALS Therapy Development Institute (ALS-TDI) in Cambridge, MA. They only do one thing, they research for a cure to ALS!

Once the grief of losing Jim allowed it, his wido Lori got to work raising money (about $500,000 in the past year) but did not start her own foundation. My name is Ray Phillips and I have been involved with racing since 1994 and I raced open wheel cars for 17 years. I have also been an instructor/driver coach for 16 years. Since I’m very analytical, I started using data to improve my driving as soon as it started to become obvious that the use of data can be a competitive advantage. I have been going down the data rabbit hole for many years now and when I realized that I have much to offer in regards to using data analysis and driver coaching, I started Precision Driving Analytics (PDA) in 2015. I’m now proud to say that I am the Data Engineer/Driver Coach for a 2019 Championship winning Ferrari Challenge team. We also finished 2nd in our Championships in both 2020 and 2021. I support multiple drivers for this team but I have also helped many other drivers find seconds off of their best times at many different tracks. In one week, I supported six different drivers at two different events and between them they found 16.3 seconds. Recently I had a client find over 4 seconds in one qualifying session simply by analyzing the data and determining that a setup change was in order. I always use data and/or video to help the driver perfect their driving techniques and to help the engineers give the driver the best setup for them. But one thing that I have learned as a Driver Coach is that sometimes the psychology behind being a good race car driver plays just as much of a role. Whenever I use data, I always go much further than my clients expect and I show them how to get more out of their data than they thought was possible. They are always surprised about how quickly and efficiently the data can be utilized. There are so many different ways to look at data other than squiggly lines and this helps my clients understand the data better. When our founder, Bill Junker, lost his brother in a tragic car accident, his dad bought him a horse named Thunder to take his mind off the pain of losing his brother. Unknowingly at the time, it would be Thunder who would inspire the trajectory of Bill’s life. ... It was Thunder who made Bill realize his love of animals, eventually leading him to open Junker and Son Feed Mill next to his father’s hardware store in downtown Mocksville. In 1985, as a sideline business to the Feed Mill, Bill began selling horse, stock and car trailers under the name Junker & Sons Trailer Sales. ... By 1996, the Junker's had expanded to our current 12-acre trailer dealership located directly off I-40 in Mocksville, NC as Trailers of the East Coast. Today, Bill's sons, Will and Clint, manage the family business and continue to carry on their family’s legacy and thundering passion for taking care of each and every guest at their dealership like family.
What started as a “bucket list event" (participating in One Lap of America) has turned into an obsession and started a company… …to provide the best quality products that are track worthy and street friendly. Raised $36,612.30 - This was our first ever HPDE at Virginia International Raceway in June of 2019. This event was put together in only 6 weeks, but thanks to a lot of great people helping us and the generosity of the racing community, this event did a lot to benefit ALS-TDI.
Raised $49,470.00 - Although our second HPDE at Virginia International Raceway in June of 2020 was greatly impacted by COVID, thanks again to a lot of great people helping us and the generosity of the racing community, this event also did a lot to benefit ALS-TDI.
Raised $105,456 - The 3rd running of our Dave's Race HPDEs at Virginia International Raceway in 2021 again highlighted the generosity of the racing community by setting a new fund-raising record to benefit ALS-TDI and generated a lot of awareness for ALS. Thanks to all who helped!
